Meryl Streep is ready to belt it out again in RICKY AND THE FLASH. The story centers on Streep’s character, an aging rock star who left her children to find fame and fortune in California. Years later, she returns to her estranged family to try and become the mother she should have been back then.
Fresh of her Oscar nominated role in “August: Osage County,” Streep will get a chance to exercise her vocal chords and her comedy chops in this role. First, though, you’ll see her play the witch in “Into the Woods” and Chief Elder in “The Giver.”
Jonathan Demme will be at the helm of the project. Demme is known for more gritty dramas such as “The Silence of the Lambs,” “The Manchurian Candidate,” and “Rachel Getting Married.” Diablo Cody, the woman behind the comedies “Juno” and “Young Adult,” will pen the script so expect to see a smart but heartwarming tale with a little quirkiness thrown in for good measure.
Streep is repped by CAA.
