Marc Webb Will Handle A “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” for Showtime

Superhero director has signed on to direct the premiere episode of Showtime’s . The musical comedy stars Rachel Bloom as Rebecca, a high powered lawyer who moves from to West Covina looking for love. The pilot was written by rom-com scribe Aline Brosh McKenna, the writer who brought “The Devil Wears Prada,” “27 Dresses” and “Morning Glory” to the big screen. She’s also the writer behind the upcoming live action fairy tale “Cinderella” and the newest adaptation of “Annie.”

The pilot is a perfect fit for Webb who may be known for directing “The Amazing Spider-Man” but got his start with the rom/com genre buster “(500) Days of Summer.” (I’m hoping the pilot for this project will be reminiscent of that famous Hall & Oates dance scene with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.) Webb is also attached to direct the third film in the “Amazing Spider-Man” franchise.

Unfortunately, Showtime hasn’t ordered the pilot to series yet, so cross your fingers.
