Sony’s live-action/CG hybrid of PETER RABBIT is in final negotiations for Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie. The project would reunite Robbie with Domhnall Gleeson, who she co-stars with in the upcoming Goodbye Christopher Robin.
The modern interpretation of Beatrix Potter’s classic novel centers on the rivalry between mischievous young hopper Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor, a man trying to keep a rabbit-free garden.
James Corden will voice the title character while Gleeson is set as McGregor. Joining them are Rose Byrne as a character named Bea (a possible stand-in for Potter). Robbie will play a rabbit though further details are being kept under wraps. Also in the film are Gleeson’s The Force Awakens co-star Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki.
The film is being produced by Will Gluck, who also directs, and Animal Logic Entertainment’s Zareh Nalbandian. Gluck is revising the latest draft from Rob Lieber.
Robbie has had a busy year with starring roles in Suicide Squad, Legend of Tarzan, and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. She’s also set up several projects with her LuckyChap banner including I, Tanya and a Suicide Squad spin-off starring her character Harley Quinn.
