Martin Freeman is in talks to join Tina Fey and Margot Robbie in TALIBAN SHUFFLE. Based on the wartime memoir written by Kim Barker, the Paramount adaptation follows a reporter’s humorous account during her days in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are directing the dramedy from a script penned by Robert Carlock. Freeman would play Fey’s love interest, a Scottish photojournalist.
Freeman is probably best known for two of his most recent roles: playing John Watson opposite Benedict Cumberbatch on the BBC series Sherlock, and playing Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit franchise. Aside from these roles, Freeman’s most recent projects have been in the comedy Svengali and the FX reboot of the crime drama Fargo. Next up, Freeman will reprise his role as Bilbo in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, and will also star in Paul Andrew Williams’ drama The Eichmann Show with Anthony LaPaglia.
