Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Josh Radnor have signed on to lead the cast of the PBS Civil War drama MERCY STREET. The actors will join Gary Cole and Peter Gerety in the series produced by Ridley Scott under his Scott Free banner. The story is based on memoirs and letters from real doctors and nurses at the hospital in Alexandria, the longest occupied Confederate city of the Civil War. The setting is Mansion House Hospital, a southern medical facility. Winstead will portray Mary Phinney, a widow and New England nurse that is a newcomer to the hospital. Radnor will play Jedediah Foster, a wealthy surgeon that grew up in a slave owning family. The series will mark the first original American series to air on PBS in over ten years.
Known for her roles in Final Destination 3 and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Winstead starred in the lead role of the film Alex From Venice.
Radnor is best known as playing the lead role of Ted on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. He starred in and directed the film Liberal Arts.
Winstead and Radnor are repped by UTA.
