20th Century Fox has chosen Matt Reeves to direct the “Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes” sequel DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, beating out several other helmers in contention.
Fox also had their eyes on J Blakeson, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Jeff Nichols, Guillermo del Toro, Juan Antonio Bayona and Rian Johnson before finally setting on Reeves. The film, which was written by Scott Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, is keeping its storyline under wraps.
Silver and Jaffa will produce with Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark.
Reeves, best known for directing the monster pic “Cloverfield”, has also helmed “Let Me In”, a remake of the Swedish vampire film “Let The Right One In” and created the TV series “Felicity” with frequent collaborator JJ Abrams. He is currently in development on “Eight O’Clock In The Morning” and “The Passage”.
Reeves is repped by CAA.
