Sobel wrote, directed, and produced Take Me to the River, which premiered to much fanfare last month at Sundance. The drama centers on a gay California teen who travels to a family reunion in farmland Nebraska where he winds up in the middle of a dark family secret. The feature stars Robin Weigert, Josh Hamilton, and Azura Skye.
Previously, Sobel wrote, produced, and directed the short Oyster, about two young sisters who live with their father and grandmother in Chinatown. The girls escape into their imaginations where they are Oyster and Clam-shell, explorers from another world – an ocean inside the earth.
