Veteran actor Andy Garcia will join Mattel’s adaptation of MAX STEEL. The live action project centers on the origin story of teenager, Max, and Steel, a technological alien who protects him. The two work together to harness their tremendous new powers which eventually transform Max into a superhero. Garcia will play Dr. Miles Edwards, a brilliant but mysterious scientist. He joins newcomers Ben Winchell who will play Max and Ana Villafañe who will play Sofia Martinez.
Garcia is known for his more dramatic roles in classics like “The Godfather: Part III” and “The Untouchables” but recently, he’s made a turn to lighter fare. Recently, he starred in rom-com “At Middleton” opposite Vera Farmiga and lent his voice to “Rio 2.” Next up for Garcia are roles in comedy “Let’s Be Cops” and biopic “Hemingway & Fuentes” starring Anthony Hopkins.
