Rosa Salazar has been tapped to take the lead in BATTLE ANGEL, the adaptation of the Manga series Battle Angel Alita by Yukito Kishiro. James Cameron has been developing the project and has handed the directing reins over to Sin City helmer Robert Rodriguez.
Set in the 26th century, Battle Angel centers on an amnesiac female cyborg who is rescued from a scrapyard from a doctor. The only thing she has memory of is her stellar martial arts skills which leads her to a life as a bounty hunter who tracks down dangerous criminals.
Salazar is an up and coming actress whose credits include Insurgent and Submerged. She is set to reprise her role as Brenda from Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials in the follow-up The Death Cure. She also appears in the upcoming adaptation of CHiPs.
She is repped by Paradigm.
