Walt Disney Pictures
Anticipation is high for Disney’s next live-action remake, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, not least of all because it’s one of the studio’s most critically adored and revered films. Though it’s not set for a theatrical premiere until next spring, today a mysterious Twitter account revealed what seem to be behind-the-scenes photos from the film.
Twitter user maconodom posted three photos today. While it’s not clear what this user’s involvement with the film is, they responded to fans’ questions about the images being real (they are) and whether they could expect any more (the user said they were afraid they’d get into trouble). Furthermore, Jack Morrissey, one of the producers of the film re-tweeted numerous mentions of these photos, lending more validity to them.
The first photo was a look at Lumiere and Cogsworth, who we heard in the first teaser trailer:

Many fans have been noting the steampunk and Lovecraftian designs. Morrissey clarified the image was concept art, but close to the final design.
Next was a glimpse into Gaston’s tavern, with a clear shot of Luke Evans as the villain from behind, and Josh Gad’s cackling face as side-kick Lefou:

There’s a lot of movement in the image, so it was presumably taken during the song “Gaston.” The film will feature all the original songs from the animated movie (though none from the musical), and a handful of new ones from composer Alan Menken.
Finally, a behind-the-scenes photo of Dan Stevens as the Beast in his princely, human form:

The resemblance is certainly uncanny.
Directed by Bill Condon and a script by Stephen Chbosky, Beauty and the Beast is being produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, with a cast consisting of Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, Kevin Kline, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Audra McDonald. It will arrive in theaters on March 17.
