MGM and Paramount have finally landed on the lead for BEN-HUR. After rumors that everyone from Tom Hiddleston to Henry Cavill could star, Jack Huston will play the role made famous by Charlton Heston in the 1959 William Wyler epic. The action drama follows a rich Jewish prince whose journey takes him into the life of a slave and an eventual meeting with Jesus Christ. Morgan Freeman was recently cast to play Ildarin, the man who teaches Ben-Hur how to become a champion chariot racer.
Huston is probably most well known for his role playing Richard Harrow on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” although you may recognize him better from projects like “Parade’s End,” “Kill Your Darlings,” and “Not Fade Away” – roles which don’t find Huston sporting a mask. More recently, Huston appeared in David O. Russell’s “American Hustle” and has booked roles in the adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” and Fox’s “The Longest Ride” alongside Scott Eastman and Oona Chaplin.
