Michael Keaton is in talks to join KONG: SKULL ISLAND. Details on the film’s plot are generally unknown, however the film is touted as an origin story for King Kong, centering on a group of explorers that venture into the treacherous jungles of the infamous Skull Island. The role Keaton is up for is under wraps, but should he finalize his deal, he’ll join the film’s current stars: Tom Hiddleston and J.K. Simmons. Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct, with John Gatins and Max Borenstein penning the adventure.
Keaton made waves this year with his incredible turn as a washed-up actor searching for meaning in Birdman, a role that has made him a fierce competitor this Oscar season. Next up, he’ll star in Thomas McCarthy’s drama Spotlight and voice a character in the animated Despicable Me spin-off, Minions. He’s also poised to direct the comedic drama Buttercup.
Keaton is repped by ICM and Anonymous Content.
