has signed on to step behind the camera and direct the upcoming crime thriller for producer Paul Haggis. The film, which is set to tell the true story of the biggest securities exchange fraud in United States history, was once being eyed by Haggis as a potential directing vehicle, but he has instead hired friend Mann to take the reins.

Mann, whose last outing was the Johnny Depp – Christian Bale-starrer “Public Enemies” has over a dozen other projects in development with him attached as a director, including; the Will Smith-starrer “Empire”, the Disney thriller “The Inside Man”, the war themed period film “For Whom The Bell Tolls”, and the project, which may overtake ‘Gold’ in the photo-finish to see which shoots first – the Brad Pitt starrer “Hatfields and McCoys”.
