Michael Pena is set to star in Taken-meets-Bourne actioner THE WORKER. Dan Bradley, who has worked on such films as The Bourne Legacy, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, and Expendables 3, is set to direct.
The film follows Pena as a special ops agent working to take down drug cartels who is forced to leave and enter a protection program in Los Angeles with his family. He works as a day laborer content with knowledge that his wife and son are safe. But the cartels have long arms and when his wife and son are kidnapped, his unique set of skills come in handy when he seeks revenge.
Jeremy Renner and Don Handfield will produce through The Combine along with Tom Butterfield through Content Media. Content will present the project at EFM as they handle worldwide sales. CAA is handling domestic rights.
Pena is set to star as “Ponch” in the feature remake of 70s TV series CHiPs and was most recently seen in last year’s The Martian and Ant-Man.
He is repped by CAA and Management 360.
