Michelle Monaghan is the latest to join the growing cast of the Boston Marathon bombing drama PATRIOTS DAY. The actress is set to play Carol Saunders, the wife of Sgt. Tommy Saunders played by Mark Wahlberg.
She will also join John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Vince Curalota, James Colby, and Jimmy O. Yang in the Lionsgate and CBS Films project. Peter Berg will direct the script written by Academy Award nominee Matt Charman. Wahlberg will also serve as producer with Scott Stuber, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson and Michael Radutzky.
The film will focus on Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis’ (Goodman) account of the events leading up to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and its aftermath, including the city-wide manhunt to find the terrorists behind it.
Monaghan recently appeared on the big screen in Pixels. She received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the first season of HBO’s True Detective and currently stars in the Hulu series, The Path with Aaron Paul and Hugh Dancy. She can be seen next in the action thriller Sleepless Night with Dermot Mulroney and Jamie Foxx.
