Three-time Oscar nominee and current Emmy nominee Michelle Pfeiffer has been cast as Janet Van Dyne in Marvel’s ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, the studio announced Saturday at Comic-Con.
Marvel also revealed that Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast as Dr. Bill Foster, and it confirmed the Tracking Board’s scoop that Randall Park will play Jimmy Woo. We also learned who Hannah John-Kamen and Walton Goggins will play — Ghost and Sonny Burch, respectively.
Elsewhere, we learned that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s Captain Marvel will be set in the ’90s before the first Iron Man takes place, and not only will it feature the Skrulls as villains, but Samuel L. Jackson will appear as Nick Fury, who will have both his eyes. That’s right, folks! Budget-cuts have forced Marvel to ditch the eye patch this time around.
The presentation for Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok included the little tidbit that the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) is actually the Collector’s (Benicio del Toro) brother.
Pfeiffer recently earned an Emmy nomination for her turn opposite Robert De Niro in HBO’s The Wizard of Lies, and she’s set to return to the big screen this September in Darren Aronofsky’s thriller mother! She’s also part of the ensemble of Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express. She’s represented by CAA, Management 360 and attorney Barry Hirsch.
Fishburne is currently filming Richard Linklater’s Where’d You Go, Bernadette? after workng with the director on the upcoming film Last Flag Flying. He’s repped by Paradigm, Landmark Artists Management and attorney Nina Shaw.
More to come…
