BEAT-UP LITTLE SEAGULL has found its lead with Michelle Pfeiffer. The pair will play lovers in the new film from director Andrew Dosunmu and script from Darci Picoult, and is set to begin filming next week. Dosunmu and Picoult previously collaborated on the film Mother of George.
Pfeiffer leads the film as a fragile woman struggling after the death of her mother and a crisis forces her to discover a means for survival. Sutherland will play Pfeiffer’s lover from whom she hides her problems.
Christine Vachon’s Killer Films is executive producing along with David Hinojosa, Rhea Scott, Jim Reeve, Robert Halmi Jr., Dosunmu, and Picoult. The company is becoming known for dynamic female dramas, having previously produced Still Alice starring Julianne Moore who won an Oscar for her performance, and HBO’s Mildred Pierce starring Kate Winslet who took home a Golden Globe, and this year’s Carol with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.
Pfeiffer is currently wrapping up production on Wizard Of Lies, the HBO movie where she plays Ruth, the wife of Bernie Madoff. Sutherland most recently starred in Forsaken and last year’s epic drama Pompeii.
Pfeiffer and Sutherland are both repped by Management 360.
