Lauren Graham and Rob Riggle are heading back to school in MIDDLE SCHOOL from CBS Films. The project is based on the best-selling series from James Patterson.
The pair join Thomas Barbusca, Andrew Daly, Adam Pally, Efren Ramirez, Isabela Moner, Alex Nisenson, and Griffin Gluck.
The story follows Rafe Khatchadorian as he battles bullies, hormones, and the tyrannical Principal Dwight. The book series has been ranked on The New York Times bestsellers list for a combined 68 weeks. Graham is set to play Rafe’s mother Jules and Riggle is set as Jule’s boyfriend, Bear.
Steve Carr is directing the script from Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, and Kara Holden. Leopoldo Gout and Bill Robinson are producing with Patterson and Steve Bowen executive producing for James Patterson Entertainment, along with Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King of Participant Media and Michael Flynn.
Patterson will co-finance the film with Participant Media and CBS Films. Robert Kessel is overseeing for the title for Participant and Scott Shooman oversee for CBS Films. Lionsgate is distributing.
Riggle is currently in theaters voicing the character of Bela in Hotel Transylvania 2 and recently signed on for the drama Midnight Sun.
Graham excited Gilmore Girls everywhere when it Netflix announced a new revival series with the original characters returning for the series. She is also adapting the bestselling book The Royal We from Jessica Morgan and Heather Cocks into a film for Mae Whitman to star.
Graham is repped by ICM Partners and John Carrabino Management. Riggle is repped by WME and Principato-Young Entertainment.
