The iconic comedian has inked a two-year overall deal with HBO that includes television exclusivity. In a press release, head of original programming, Michael Lonbardo, spoke highly of the Saturday Night Live alum as well as his expectations on working with the very funny man.
“Myers is one of the great comedy minds of this or any other era. The opportunity to collaborate with a talent of his stature is tremendously exciting.”
The producer, writer and actor started his career as member of the well-known Chicago comedy troupe “Second City. It was there that he caught the attention of SNL producer, Lorne Michaels, who brought Myers on as a performer and writer. During his tenure, Myers gave birth to the popular characters Wayne Cambell, from Wayne’s World, Coffee Talk host Linda Richman and uber-proud Scotsman Stuart Rankin.
Myers went on to create, star, and produce in the monster box office franchises Austin Powers and Shrek. Most recently, Myers made his directorial debut with the documentary Supermensch: The Legend Of Shep Gordon, which tells the story of talent manager Shep Gordon.
