Morris Chestnut has added two new projects to his upcoming slate. The thesp will star in the thriller pic THE HIVE in a lead role opposite Halle Berry and will also be featured in a strong supporting role in the comedy actioner KICK-ASS 2: BALLS TO THE WALL.
“The Hive” centers on a teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) who is abducted and thrown inside the trunk of a car, but manages to call a 911 call center, leading to one employee’s (Berry) personal crusade to save her. Chestnut will star as a cop and Berry’s love interest in the film. Producing will be Robert Stein, David Helfant, Jeff Graup, Michael Helfant and Michael Luisi.
Chestnut will also star as the guardian to Chloe Moretz’s character Hit Girl in the sequel to the 2010 film “Kick-Ass”. The film picks up after the original with Hit Girl attempting to lead a normal life as Kick-Ass begins to assemble a league of superheroes to take on villains. Matthew Vaughn, who directed the original pic, will be producing along with Tarquin Pack, David Reid and Adam Bohling.
Chestnut, who has previously starred in “G.I. Jane”, “Ladder 49” and “Takers” is repped by Gersh.
