Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has been cast in the upcoming UNTITLED RIDLEY SCOTT SPORTS CONCUSSIONS PROJECT. The sports drama, written and directed by Peter Landesman, will explore the effects concussions are having on sports players and the league owners who stand by while it happens. Will Smith stars as the neurologist studying the effects, while Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Alec Baldwin, Paul Reiser, Albert Brooks, and Richard T. Jones round out the cast. Akinnuoye-Agbaje has been cast as real life NFL safety Dave Duerson, who died from a self inflicted gunshot wound as a result of chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Ridley Scott will produce the project under his Scott Free Productions banner.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje is probably best known for his roles as Mr. Eko on Lost and Simon Adebis on Oz. On the big screen, Akinnuoye-Agbaje has appeared in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Thor: The Dark World, and Pompeii. Akinnuoye-Agbaje was recently joined the cast of Game of Thrones for the upcoming season and will also appear in Jay Roach’s biopic Trumbo and the newest adaptation of Annie.
