〉There are currently two books released in the series
Pooka Entertainment’s Kevin Cleary is out with a hot new mystery/drama series from author Nancy Allen. With two books in the Ozarks series already released to rave reviews, and currently three more installments on the way, the film and TV rights for the engaging novels is currently being shopped across town.
The first entry, The Code of the Hills, introduces ambitious prosecutor Elsie Arnold, who takes on a high-profile sexual abuse case that draws her into the bleak and sinister cultural underbelly of the Ozarks, which doesn’t take kindly to her interference.
Code of The Hills hit shelves in 2014, published by Witness Impulse, a Harper Collins imprint. The second installment, A Killing at the Creek, was released just this past April to further accolades.
Allen provides an air of authenticity to her novels after serving as Assistant Missouri Attorney General and Assistant Prosecutor in the Ozarks. Having tried over thirty jury cases, including murder and sexual offenses, Allen now teaches as a law instructor at Missouri State University, in addition to writing.
With a compelling, strong female lead and captivating mysteries, the Ozarks series is perhaps best primed for a television adaptation, with favorable comparisons to the likes of Winter’s Bone, The Killing, and A Killing in the Hills.
