Naomi Watts is in talks to join Jake Gyllenhaal in DEMOLITION. The drama centers on an investment banker unable to cope with the tragic death of his wife who meets a new woman by chance who gives him a new lease on life. Watts would play a pot-smoking single mother who falls for Gyllenhaal’s character. The project is being directed by “Dallas Buyers Club” helmer Jean-Marc Vallee from a spec script written by Bryan Sipe.
Watts made a name for herself in the States with projects like “Mulholland Drive” and “The Ring,” but has since gone on to star in “J. Edgar” and “The Impossible.” She recently embodied the late Princess of Wales in the biopic “Diana.” Next up, Watts is set to star in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Birdman” and the second installment of the “Divergent” series, “Allegiant.”
Watts is repped by CAA, Markham, Froggatt and Irwin and Untitled Entertainment.
