The peacock network has picked up three new pilots from big-name talent — one from Mindy Kaling and Charlie Grandy, another from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, and a final one from Adam Sztykiel and Bill Lawrence. These pilots join a slew of other projects currently on the NBC development slate.
Kaling and Grandy’s untitled single-camera comedy follows a pair of brothers, Vince, a gym owner with no ambition, and Michael, a “gorgeous idiot.” Their lives are upended with Priya (played by Kaling in a recurring role), Vince’s old fling, drops off Vince’s teenage son at their doorstep.
The two creators worked together on The Office and The Mindy Project (currently on Hulu) and will write and co-executive produce this pilot. This is Kaling’s first project under her new deal with Universal TV.
Next is THE SACKETT SISTERS from writer Luke Del Tredici, with Fey, Carlock, and David Miner executive producing. The project follows the Sackett family who’s reunited when two estranged sister perform a public act of heroism.
Finally, Sztykiel and Lawrence collaborated with Jeff Ingold on SPACED OUT, a comedy about a working-class genius struggling to fit in with his team as they work on building a rocket to Mars.
These projects join several others including a series based on the life of Fresh Off the Boat showrunner Nahnatchka Khan; the What About Bob? female-led remake What About Barb?, greenlit the other day; and a comedy from Seth Meyers.
