NBC has given a script plus penalty commitment to a reboot of FREQUENCY. Based on the 2000 New Line sci-fi thriller written by Toby Emmerich, the project centers on an NYPD detective who works with his son on a case 30 years in the future. Jeremy Carver will write the project for Warner Bros. Television and will executive produce with Emmerich, John Rickard, Dan Lin, and Jennifer Gwartz. The original movie starred Jim Caviezel and Dannis Quaid and grossed $68 million worldwide.
Frequency is the latest in a long line of features to be adapted for TV, including the reboots of Big, The Money Pit, Marley & Me, Bewitched…the list goes on and on. Hopefully with Emmerich on board to executive produce, this project won’t go the way of the doomed Say Anything reboot.
