Shades of Blue star Jennifer Lopez is reteaming with NBC for a new series, C.R.I.S.P.R., with a script order. The series is a procedural with a futuristic twist and has Bates Motel’s Anthony Cipriano attached to the script.
The title stands for “clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats” and is set five minutes into the future, focusing on the crime of DNA hacking. Each episode follows a scientist with the CDC and an FBI agent as they investigate biological crimes, such as genetic assassination attempts and framing an unborn child for murder.
The big bad is the scientist’s former boss and just as Castle succeeded with, there will be a romance between the scientist and agent.
Lopez will executive produce with her banner Nuyorican Productions, alongside Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, Drew Brown, and Nuyorican’s head of development Priscilla Porianda.
This is hardly Lopez’s first collaboration with the network. She stars in and executive produces their series Shades of Blue and she’s also set to host their upcoming reality dance competition, World of Dance. She’s repped by CAA and The Medina Company.
