NBC’s CRUEL INTENTIONS has finally closed a deal for Sarah Michelle Gellar to reprise her role from the original role as the even Kathryn Merteuil. Kathryn was the step sister of Ryan Phillipe’s Sebastian Valmont.
The new series will follow Sebastian’s son Bash Casey from his relationship in the film with Reese Witherspoon’s Annette Hargrove. Bash discovers his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal and is introduced to a world of sex, money, power, and corruption he never could have imagined. Kathryn is now married to the wealthy Pascal Barrett and spearheads an inspiring youth rehabilitation movement, as well as being involved in a local private school. She is privately shaken by the arrive of Bash
Gellar joins previously cast Samantha Logan and Sophina Brown. The TV sequel was penned by the film’s writer-director Roger Kumble with Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross. Kumble will direct the pilot and also executive produced with Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film. Rosin and Ross co-executive produce. Sony Pictures TV is producing alongside Original and AMBI.
Gellar is best known for starring the TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer (also based on a cult hit film) and more recently starred in CBS comedy series The Crazy Ones opposite the late Robin Williams and drama Ringer, as well as lending her voice to Star Wars Rebels.
