Neal McDonough is set to join ARROW season four as a series regular, playing new villain Damien Darhk. Darhk is a DC comics character who on the series serves an adversary of Ra’s Al Ghul, portrayed by Matthew Nable in the show’s third season. The character was referenced last season as an intended target of the Demon’s Head and his League of Assassins, citing that they were once friends but now sworn enemies.
Darhk has been described as a enigmatic, clever, and sophisticated villain who is now the leader of his own villainous group called H.I.V.E. Ghul bit the big one last season and now Darhk will serve as this year’s big bad and a notorious new combatant for Oliver Queen. The series stars Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, John Barrowman , Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland, and Paul Blackthorne. Season four will premiere on October 7, 2015 on the CW.
McDonough is all too familiar with the superhero genre, starring as Captain America’s pal Timothy “Dum Dum” Dugan in Captain America: The First Avenger and in DC’s Red 2. McDonough most recently appeared opposite Kevin James in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 and just wrapped on the Cary Elwes drama Indiscretion.
