Smilegate group has announced they are turning their mega-hit video game Crossfire into a franchise as they hand the film rights over to Neal Moritz from Original Film. The production company is most well-known for their work in the Fast and the Furious franchise. Smilegate has previously had stakes in a few major hits in South Korea.
Crossfire is the number one first person shooter game in the world with over 400 million registered users and 6 million concurrent users.
It has been a big couple of weeks for Original Film. As well as picking up Crossfire, they also booked F. Gary Gray for Furious 8 and it was revealed that they are in the midst of developing a feature adaptation of the animated series Danger Mouse.
