Game of Thrones helmer Neil Marshall is set to direct EuropaCorp’s upcoming revenge drama THE SENTENCE. Pitched as Taken meets The Purge, the futuristic thriller centers on a world where a victim is granted 24 hours to take revenge against someone who murders a loved one. The Tracking Board exclusively broke the news of the project earlier in July.
Marshall will direct off a script from Olympus Has Fallen scribes Creighton Rothenberger and Katrina Benedikt. He has a proven track record in the action thriller genre, directing projects such as Doomsday and Centurion, as well as episodes of pirate drama Black Sails, comic adaptation Constantine and NBC’s critically acclaimed horror show Hannibal.
Marc Helwig will produce via his Applebox Entertainment banner, along with Luc Besson at EuropaCorp.
Marshall is repped by WME and Principato/Young Entertainment.
The news about Marshall was first reported by Deadline, while the project was announced via The Tracking Board.
