Netflix’s adaptation of UMBRELLA ACADEMY has added five new actors to join Ellen Page to round out its cast, the streaming platform announced Thursday.
The adaptation of the Dark Horse comic book has added Tom Hopper as Luther, Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison, David Castañeda as Diego, Robert Sheehan as Klaus and Aidan Gallagher as Number Five.
The story, based on the comic book by Gerard Way, follows a dysfunctional family of superheroes known as the Umbrella Academy – Luther, Diego, Allison, Vanya, Klaus and Number Five – as they work together to solve their father’s mysterious death while coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities.
Page will play Vanya, the black sheep of the family who is the only on with no supernatural abilities.
Jeremy Slater wrote the pilot script, while Steve Blackman will serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Bluegrass Television as well as Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg from Dark Horse Entertainment. Way will be a co-EP on the series.
Hopper is represented by Gersh, Magnolia Entertainment, and Waring and McKenna in the UK. Raver-Lampman is repped by WME and Authentic Talent and Literary Management. Castañeda is repped by Buchwald and Stark Management. Sheehan is repped by Lisa Richards Agency. Gallagher is repped by Coast to Coast Talent Group and Gallagher Talent Management.
The 10-episode series will launch in 2018 on Netflix.
