Come on down, you’re the next contestant on “Who Will They Cast Next?” We’ve got a hot new list of contenders for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII!
They are:
Ed Speleers, known as James for “Downton Abbey” fans
Jess Plemons, the creepy but lovable Todd from “Breaking Bad”
John Boyega from “Attack the Block”
Matthew James Thomas from “Billy Elliot”
Ray Fisher, a young theater actor
The new batch of relative unknowns are thought to be up for the role of the Jedi apprentice in this installment, going up against villain, Adam Driver. They’re joining the long list of rumored attachments including, Ewan McGregor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael B. Jordan and Chiwetel Ejiofer. It has also been strongly suggested that Star Wars veterans Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will reprise their roles as Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker.
This installment has been in the works for a while, getting held up with a new script which was originally written by Michael Arndt and centered around the children of Solo and Leia. The rewrite, penned by JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, is said to have the kids as more of a supporting element. Casting has been dragging allegedly because Abrams is looking to diversify the cast and add some fresh faces to the project.
The project is set to go into production at London’s Pinewood Studios and has a release date of December 18, 2015.
