Nia Long Tapped For “Dear White People” at Netflix; Tiffany Hines & Bailey Chase Join “24 Legacy”

Netflix’s adaptation of Justin Simien’s critically acclaimed satire DEAR WHITE PEOPLE has tapped to appear in the series as a recurring character.

The Lionsgate-produced 10-episode series revolves around a diverse group of students of color as they navigate a predominantly white Ivy League college where racial tensions are often swept under the rug. The Keanu actress is set to play Neika Hobbs, an African-American studies professor at Winchester University with a whip-smart intellect and unflappable confidence whose pulled-together professional life contrasts a more complicated personal one.

Simien is set to write and direct several episodes. Yvette Lee Bowser will serve as executive producer alongside Stephanie Allain and Julia Lebedev.

Fox’s reboot 24: LEGACY has added and in recurring roles. The two join Straight Outta Compton actor Corey Hawkins who stars in the real-time series that chronicles a race against the clock to stop a terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

Hines will play Aisha, Isaac’s (Ashley Thomas) smart and ambitious girlfriend who is an important part of his drug-dealing business. Chase is set to play Locke, a seasoned CTU field agent who is head of field operations. He’s all business and willing to make personal sacrifices for the .

Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer, Manny Coto and Evan Katz will serve as executive producers with director Stephen Hopkins and original 24 star Kiefer Sutherland.
