Nicholas Hoult & Laia Costa Struggle with Monogamy in a Social Media Age in “Newness” Trailer (Video)

The first trailer for the romantic drama, from Like Crazy and Equals director Drake Doremus is here. In modern day Los Angeles, two millennials navigate a social media-driven world, and the strains couples face in relationships.

Gabi (Laia Costa) and Martin (Nicholas Hoult) meet on a Tinder like dating site and begin a relationship quickly after. The couple becomes engrossed in each other, but eventually the flame begins to burn out as the want for someone new overcomes them. With Costa stating ” I am in love, but maybe it’s not enough.”

This trailer taps into something raw and a topic that’s commonly thought of as a taboo, exploring other relationships or openly having other partners. For many couples the idea of monogamy is frighting, but people are often too scared to discuss it in fear of going against the status quo. I think the trailer brings in a fresh perspective of how relationships have changed for a new generation.

Also starring is Courtney Eaton, Danny Huston, Esther Perel, Jessica Henwick and Mathew Gray Gubler. Newness will be available on iTunes November 3, and will hit other platforms soon after. Watch the trailer below.
