WONDER WOMAN may be adding to its Amazons of Paradise Island, with Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman in talks to play a high-ranking warrior opposite Gal Gadot in the DC film. Patty Jenkins is directing the film due out June 2017 from Warner Bros.
Chris Pine was previously announced as Gadot’s love interest Steve Trevor in the super hero flick. While the comics tend to have a few variations of Wonder Woman’s origin story, one of the most common of those stories centers around Trevor, an Army Air Corps pilot who crashes his plane on Paradise Island where “Diana” resides among a large tribe of Amazons. He is rescued by Diana and brought back to the United States, where she becomes the famous heroine known as ‘Wonder Woman’. Kidman’s role has not been confirmed, though some have suggested she would play Hippolyta, leader of the Amazons and Diana’s mother.
Kidman will next be seen in theaters opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor and Julia Roberts in Secret In Their Eyes and just last week it was announced that Adrian Lyne would direct Kidman in The Silent Wife.
