Nicole Kidman Set For Season 2 Of “Top Of The Lake”



After a flurry of rumors, BBC has confirmed that will join Elisabeth Moss for the second season of TOP OF THE LAKE.

No details have been revealed about Kidman’s new role, but the series marks a reunion with director Jane Campion, who she worked with on in 1996. Campion is set to direct with Ariel Kleiman. Campion will also return as a writer alongside Gerald Lee. The series will air on BBC Two in the UK as well as SundanceTV and Hulu in the U.S.

The forthcoming season will be titled Top of the Lake: China Girl and will center on Detective Robin Griffin investigating a case that involves an unidentified body that is found on Bondi Beach in Sydney. Game of Thrones star has also signed on to the series. Liv Hewson, David Dencik, Alice Englert, and Ewen Leslie have also been cast for the new season.

Campion is co-directing with Ariel Kleiman (Partisan). Campion and Lee also return as co-. Top Of The Lake Season 2 is produced by See-Saw for BBC Two in co- with SundanceTV; BBC First and Foxtel in Australia; and in association with Hulu; France’s ARTE and BBC Worldwide. Exec are Campion with See-Saw’s Emile Sherman, Iain Canning and Jamie Laurenson, alongside Lucy Richer for the BBC.

Kidman recently starred in the English remake of the Argentine film Secret in their Eyes as well as the Jason Bateman-directed The Family Fang. She is currently filming the adaptation of Big Little Lies for HBO which also stars Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern.
