No “Do-Over” Here: Netflix Wants to Grow Old With Adam Sandler, Orders Four More Movies

Though it initially raised eyebrows when it was first reported, Netflix doesn’t want a “do-over” on its lucrative deal with .

After working together on four films that performed incredibly well for the streaming service, Netflix has extended its partnership with the successful comedian and will commit to finance the development and production of four additional original movies starring the Sandman, it was announced Friday.

Sandler’s will produce each film that will premiere exclusively on Netflix, which boasts 93 million members worldwide.

Sandler, whose films have grossed over $3 billion worldwide, previously starred in The Ridiculous 6 and The Do-Over for Netflix, which will release his new film Sandy Wexler on April 14.

Sandy Wexler sees Sandler return to the romantic comedy genre following The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates. Set in Los Angeles in the ’90s, the film co-stars Jennifer Hudson, Kevin James, Terry Crews, Lamorne Morris, Nick Swardson, Rob Schneider, Jane Seymour and more.

“Sandler is one of the leading comedians in the film world, and his movies have proven to be extremely successful with our subscribers around the world,” said Netflix chief Ted Sarandos.  “We are thrilled at the opportunity to extend our partnership with Adam and his entire team at Happy Madison and keep the world laughing.”

“I love working with Netflix and collaborating with them. I love how passionate they are about making movies and getting them out there for the whole world to see. They’ve made me feel like family and I can’t thank them enough for their support,”  added Sandler, who will soon be seen alongside Dustin Hoffman, Ben Stiller and Emma Thompson in Noah Baumbach’s upcoming comedy Meyerowitz.
