Earlier this year, the original spec from American Ultra scribe Max Landis triggered a fierce bidding war. Netflix ended up acquiring the rights, beating out studios like Sony and Warner Bros. The sale was one of the largest spec sales in years with a price tag of $90 million.
The story is currently being kept under wraps but the movie is similar to Ayers’s contemporary cop thriller End of Watch, but with fantastical fairies including Orcs and fairies living among present day humans.
