John Magaro has signed on for Todd Haynes’ CAROL. The drama follows a lonely department store employee who befriends a housewife in the middle of a divorce and the two set out across the country while being pursued by a private investigator hired by a jealous ex-husband. Magaro joins an impressive cast that includes Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, and Kyle Chandler with Magaro playing an artistic writer working at the New York Times.
Magaro stared out with small roles in “The Brave One” and “The Box” but recently headlined “Not Fade Away,” 2012’s indie drama helmed by “Sopranos” director David Chase.
Haynes is known for directing female-centric, character-driven dramas including “Far From Heaven” and “Safe.” His more recent titles include the Bob Dylan biopic “I’m Not There” and the HBO miniseries “Mildred Pierce.”
Magaro is repped by Paradigm and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
