Single-camera ensemble comedy NOW & THEN has received a pilot order from Freeform. The project is written by Shawn Wines, who executive produces alongside Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor.
The story centers around a group of old college friends, who, having lost touch over the years, are brought back together unexpectedly for one wild night only to be given a new lease on life and friendship. Reuniting as friends gives them the opportunity to discover who they always promised each other they would be.
Freeform’s previous incarnation, ABC Family, also developed a different television series titled Now & Then, based on the popular coming-of-age film that starred Gaby Hoffman, Christina Ricci, Demi Moore, and Rosie O’Donnell. The film was written and adapted by for TV by I. Marlene King, but never came to fruition. King went on to adapt Pretty Little Liars.
Kaplan is a regular pilot heavy-hitter and Honor is quickly matching pace since joining Kapital, with Now & Then being her eighth pilot in the last year with the company. CBS ordered two of those pilots to series, 9JKL and Me, Myself & I.
Wines previously worked with Kapital on a single-camera comedy based on his short film Upstairs at Fox.
Wines is represented by WME and the Radmin Company.
