Octavia Spencer has been cast in INSURGENT, the second part of the “Divergent” trilogy. Spencer joins Shailene Woodley as rebellious Tris whose surprising faction decision leads to radical new discoveries and secrets about the looming war and her realization of where her decisions might lead her. Theo James and Kate Winslet are also reprising their roles as Four and Jeanine, respectively. Spencer will play Johanna, a representative from the faction Amity.
Spencer is no stranger to big screen adaptations, having played Minny Jackson in “The Help,” winning her first Oscar. Spencer will appear in the upcoming drama “Snowpiercer,” the James Brown biopic “Get On Up” and the Fox series “Red Band Society” where she’ll play a nurse in the pediatric ward of a hospital.
