Josh Brolin, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Olivia Munn have rounded out the cast of Otto Bathurst’s crime thriller THREE SECONDS. Based on the bestseller by Anders Roslund and Borge Hellstrom, the pic follows an ex-con, working undercover for the police, who is sent into a maximum security prison to break a criminal organization’s stranglehold on amphetamine dealings, and then must escape on his own after he’s abandoned during the mission. Luke Evans and David Oyelowo will also star, with Evans in the leading role.
Gyllenhaal will portray an FBI agent who has history with Evans, while Brolin will play her supervisor. Munn will do some of the emotional heavy-lifting as Evans’ wife and mother of his child. Bathurst, known for the Cillian Murphy series Peaky Blinders, will direct from a script adapted by Matt Cook and Rowan Joffe.
Munn previously co-starred in the Johnny Depp comedy Mortdecai and the Eric Bana horror Deliver Us From Evil. She’ll next feature in a number of sequels, including Zoolander 2, Ride Along 2, and will play fan-favorite mutant Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse. She’s repped by CAA and Atlas Artists.
Gyllenhaal recently delivered fantastic turns in the Michael Fassbender drama Frank and the critically acclaimed miniseries The Honourable Woman. She’s next set to lead opposite Peter Sarsgaard in the biopic Blue Moon of Kentucky. WME and MGMT Entertainment reps Gyllenhaal.
Brolin just finished shooting the Coen brothers’ period comedy Hail, Caesar! and can soon be seen in Denis Villeneuve’s Cannes hit Sicario and Universal’s mountain-climbing drama Everest. He’ll soon star in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 as the mad titan Thanos, after first appearing as the character in the 2014 hit Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s represented by CAA.
