“Once Upon a Time” Alum Jennifer Morrison Directs a New Kind of Fairy Tale in “Fabled” (Video)

It wasn’t that long ago that Once Upon a Time Jennifer Morrison starred in the family series that put a modern-twist on classic fairy tales. Now, she steps behind the camera for a new feminist spin on the genre with . Morrison directs the first episode of the anthology series which was written by Girls star Zosia Mamet and Evan Jonigkeit.

In the first installment, Mamet and Gugu Mbatha-Raw play Allie (Alice from Alice in Wonderland) and Dee (Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz), respectively. They are described as “creative young woman that blaze their own trails and stray away from societal norms. They crave adventure and dream bigger than what the world tells them is acceptable. After meeting at an extensive behavioral therapy center, they find solace and fortitude in one another. Their bond illustrates the strength of friendship and the power that women can harness when they come together.”

The series hails from Refinery29 and will premiere its first episode at the Tribeca Festival.
