Open Road Films Picks Up “Marshall” Starring Chadwick Boseman

Open Road has nabbed the U.S. rights to the Thurgood Marshall biopic, MARSHALL starring . The Captain America: Civil War star is set to play the historic lawyer in his early years before he became a Supreme Court justice.

Boseman is joined by an impressive lineup of actors including Josh Gad, Kate Hudson, James Cromwell, Sterling K. Brown, Dan Stevens, and Keesha Sharp. Django Unchained producer Reginalad Hudlin is set to direct a script written by lawyer Michael Koskoff and his son Jacob. Hudlin will also alongside Jonathan Sanger and Paula Wagner from Chestnut Ridge Productions. Peter Luo and Belton Lee will serve as executive .

Set in the 1940s, the story centers on a young Thurgood Marshall as he takes on a high-profile, headline-making case in which a black chauffeur was accused of sexual assault and attempted murder by his white employer.

Open Road’s most recent titles include Triple 9, Dope and the Academy Award-winning film Spotlight starring Michael Keaton and Mark Ruffalo. Other films expected for release this year include the Oliver Stone-directed Snowden and the Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez on Me.

Boseman’s previous film credits include Gods of Egypt, 42, and Get On Up. In 2018, he will reprise his role as T’Challa in the the standalone Marvel pic, Black Panther.
