Open Road Films has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Garry Marshall’s MOTHER’S DAY. The romantic comedy stars Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, and Kate Hudson as mothers and follows their lives leading up to the titular holiday. Jason Sudeikis is also set to star.
This is the third holiday-centric film for Marshall, who directed 2011’s New Year’s Eve and 2010’s Valentine’s Day, which grossed upwards of $110.4 million domestically. This will be the fourth time he has worked with Roberts, the second time with Hudson, and the first time with Aniston.
Mother’s Day is scripted by Anya Kochoff-Romano and Lily Hollander. Wayne Rice and Mike Karz are producing. Production is set to begin in Atlanta next month.
Marshall is repped by ICM and RPMedia.
