Oren Moverman’s THE DINNER continues to flesh out its cast as Rebecca Hall and Chloe Sevigny have been added to the film. They join the previously announced Laura Linney, Richard Gere, and Steve Coogan.
The story is based on the novel by Herman Koch set at a dinner. It revolves around around two brothers, one running for political office (Gere), who must deal with their teenage sons having committed a violent crime. Hall will play Gere’s wife with Coogan and Linney set as the second brother and his wife.
The film is produced by Cotty Chubb, Lawrence Inglee, Eddie Vaisman, and Julia Lebedev and is a Code Red, ChubbCo, and Blackbird production. Leonid Lebedev, Angel Lopez, Olga Segura, and Eva Daniels are executive producing. Code Red is full financing while Protagonist Pictures handles international sales.
Moverman, who adapted the novel The Dinner for the screen, is best known for penning last year’s Love & Mercy starring John Cusack, Elizabeth Banks, and Paul Dano which has been up for several awards this season.
Hall has starred most recently in last year’s The Gift and will next be seen at Sundance in Antonio Campos’s Christine in the title role. She also stars in The BFG due out later this year. Sevigny recently signed on to star in Lizzie Borden and is best known for her role in HBO’s Big Love.
Hall is repped by WME and Julian Belfrage Associates in the UK. Sevigny is repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment.
