MGM’s post-WWII drama OPERATION FINALE (previously titled Eichmann) has landed Oscar Isaac as its first star, the Tracking Board has confirmed. The actor will also produce the project, which was written by Matthew Orton and optioned by the studio in November 2015. Chris Weitz is set to direct the film.
In 1960s Argentina, a group of Israelis seeks to hunt down Nazi general Adolf Eichmann so he can stand trial for his war crimes. Isaac will play Israeli Mossad Peter Malkin, who has a particular obsession with nailing Eichmann and a deep-rooted hatred for the Nazis.
Joining Isaac as producers are Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, and Jason Spire. Writer Matt Charman of Bridge of Spies fame will executive produce.
Isaac is best known for his roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Ex Machina. Soon he can be seen in another period drama, The Promise with Christian Bale, about the Armenian genocide. He’s represented by UTA, WME, and Inspire Entertainment.
