Oscar Isaac has been tapped to play the titular villain in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. The big bad, known as Apocalypse or En Sabah Nur (The first one), was foreshadowed at the end of the last X-Men picture “X-Men: Days Of Future Past.” In the comics, Apocalypse is known as the first mutant and, along with his four horsemen, is one of the primary antagonists of the X-Men. The film will be set in the 1980’s, following the younger versions of the classic characters as they do battle with the legendary baddie. Isaac will join Future Past’s stars Evan Peters, Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and Nicholas Hoult. Channing Tatum was also recently announced to star as Gambit. Bryan Singer returns to direct, with a script from Simon Kinberg.
Isaac has made a name for himself in recent years, tackling both indie dramas and studio blockbusters. He’s appeared in “Sucker Punch,” “Drive,” “Robin Hood” and “The Borne Legacy.” Most recently, Isaac surprised audiences with his remarkable turn in the Cohen brothers’ folk drama “Inside Llewyn Davis.” He also starred in the drama “In Secret” and alongside Jessica Chastain in “A Most Violent Year.” Up next, he’ll star in the thrillers “Ex Machina” and “Mojave.” He’ll also play a major role in the long-awaited Star Wars sequel “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.”
