Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are teaming up again for Paramount Pictures’ DADDY’S HOME. The first film bowed over the holiday season and racked up $240 million worldwide gross.
Brian Burns, John Morris, and Sean Anders penned the initial installment, which followed Ferrell as stepdad, Brad Whitaker, a radio host trying to get his stepchildren to love him and call him Dad. His plans turn upside down when the biological father, Wahlberg’s Dusty Mayron, returns. Details on the sequel’s plots are being kept under wraps.
There is no word yet on if Hannibal Buress, Linda Cardellini, and Thomas Haden Church will return.
Morris and Anders are returning write the sequel and Anders will also helm the project. Adam McKay and Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez Productions will produce.
Ferrell starred in last year’s Get Hard and recently picked up the rights with McKay to the New York Magazine article “The Hustlers At Scores”. Ferrell and McKay will produce with Jessica Elbaum. Ferrell and McKay also sold the Untitled Escaped Convict Comedy pitch to Universal in a seven-figure deal.
Wahlberg starred in last year’s Ted 2 and the Entourage movie. He will next be seen in Deepwater Horizon opposite Kate Hudson and Kurt Russell.
Ferrell and Anders are repped by UTA and Mosaic. Wahlberg is repped by WME and Leverage. Morris is repped by CAA and Mosaic.
