Paramount Pictures has quickly moved to pick up the film rights to ALL OUR WRONG TODAYS, the buzzy title from this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair.
Written by Toronto-based screenwriter Elan Mastai, Todays concerns a man from a utopian alternate universe who ends up marooned in the real 2015 after a time travel mishap. He then must decide whether he wants to live his new life here or find a way back to his original world.
Said to be a blend of sci-fi, comedy, and romance, Todays will be produced by Amy Pascal via her Pascal Pictures. The project marks one of the first set up at the newly formed shingle, and the first outside her first-look deal at Sony.
Mastai will also script the adaptation of his debut novel, as well as executive produce. The book, which landed a $1.25 million sale for North American rights from Dutton, was brought into the studio by Geoff Stier, who will oversee.
As a screenwriter, Mastai’s credits include the Samuel L. Jackson thriller The Samaritan and the Daniel Radcliffe/Zoe Kazan led rom-com What If.
He’s repped by Gersh.
